Description

Casta Negra’s story goes back five generations in the heart of Mexico Tequila country and here’s some photos we’ve taken in and around our farm and the town of Mentidero (“Liar’s Village”) which was named after the local tradition of Tequila sippin’ and lie swappin’.

This blanco is made at NOM 1572 Destiladora de Agave el Mentidero in the region known as Jalisco South Coast. One of only 2 products that are made in that region of Jalisco, the other is Luna Malvada which is also available here at OldTown. The agave are grown in a climate that is considered a tropical dry forests of SW Jalisco State. The area claims to be an ancestral production area that fell out of use as most production was consolidated in Los Valles or the Highlands over the course of many years.
This blanco is clean with full agave flavor of caramelized cooked agave and some light spice of white pepper and jalapeno. Thin legs show this is not adulterated by additives and is very nicely priced which is refreshing in this day of Ultra Premium blancos that taste totally manipulated and fake. Try it, you’ll like it.
